dr Gabriela Lenarczyk

For as long as I can remember I have been surrounded by growing piles of legal and medical records, I have listened to countless stories of medical negligence victims and attended numerous court hearings. All thanks to my mother, a brilliant role model – and a personal injury lawyer.

Since then my passion has grew, guiding me through law studies at Jagiellonian University in Kraków and a very special year at London School of Economics, where I discovered the most challenging aspect of medical law yet – bioethics.

Where medical ethics and the law intersect, there is an ever-growing need for research into controversial ethical issues. This is where the patient’s autonomy should be most respected and protected by the law. My specific areas of interest include reproduction/reproductive technology, organ transplantation, end-of-life care and genetics.

While these topics constitute my academic researches and projects, my main focus is working with the personal injury team at BFP Law firm. I joined the team after assisting with the emergency landing of Boeing 767 case, when the firm successfully completed the litigation of compensatory claims from the passengers. This experience has shown that we form an effective group of lawyers, who swiftly deal with ‘all hands on deck’ cases.

I am an active member of PEOPIL and their Young Lawyers Group as well as of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) - organisations that aim to connect personal injury lawyers and enhance their knowledge of legal and judicial systems of various jurisdictions. I have extensive knowledge of British personal injury law, having completed internships at law firms such as Stewarts Law and Slater and Gordon.

After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the Jagiellonian University, I obtained the degree of Juris Doctor summa cum laude in 2022 from the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where I defended my thesis entitled 'Patent pledges against the background of Polish legal institutions with particular emphasis on the License of Right'.

Since 2023, I have been a member of the Kraków Bar Association as an attorney-at-law.
