International patent conference ‘Rethinking Patent Law as an Incentive to Innovation’ 8-9 October 2018 – Warsaw
On 8 and 9 October 2018, the Polish Patent Office together with the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Society for Intellectual Property and Competition Law held a conference titled ‘Rethinking patent law as an incentive to innovation’.
Among the panelists were i.a. representatives from the United States (Rochelle Dreyfuss), New Zeland (Susy Frankel) and Switzerland (Reto Hilty). The conference was also a unique opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first modern Polish patent statute and the establishment of the Polish Patent Office (28 December 1918).
The influence of Artificial Intelligence on patent law, especially with regard to transparency in the patent system, was a subject of a lively debate. Among many valuable presentations, Tomasz Targosz’s lecture on second medical use patents met with particular interest.
