XIXth EUROPEAN TRAFFIC LAW DAYS 2018, 4-5 October 2018 - IETL
This year’s European Traffic Law Days, a conference organised by the Institute for European Traffic Law (IETL) took place in Naples. IETL focuses its members’ activity around the issues of road traffic accidents in Europe. This time, the programme included, among others, an analysis of the legal situation of road traffic accidents’ victims and the insurers after Brexit.
Atty. Jolanta Budzowska, who has represented the BFP law firm at the conference, was mainly interested in lectures on the most recent European Court of Justice’s case law and the topic of comparative law of mitigation of losses in personal injury claims. Particularly valuable was a presentation on the Motor Insurance Directive (Directive 2009/103/EC). It is important to note that the issue of expert reports’ quality is widely discussed by personal injury lawyers not only in Poland, but also at an international level. A debate on the standardisation of the European model of medico-legal reports in cross-boarder claims was dedicated to this very topic. The amount of compensation for personal injury sustained in a road traffic accident and the rules under which such claims can be brought was also analysed.
